5 Step Dreadlock Detox

Follow our 5 step guide to detoxing your dreadlocks! In under 5 minutes you will know all the basics to detoxing your hair/locks. remember to KEEP. IT. SIMPLE. as long as you follow the basic rules you will be good to go!

Dreadlock Detox

Gather Materials:

• 3+ Towels

• Hair Wash Basin

•Hand Mirror (not required)

• appx. 2 gal. Warm Water

• 1 cup AC vinegar

• 1 can of FHG Dreadlock Detox or 1/4 lb (box) Baking Soda + 10-20 drops Rosemary oil

•Residue free Shampoo

Mix Detox:

Place 1 or 2 Towels under the Hair Wash Basin (inflatable is the comfiest) roll one towel & place it where your neck will be lying. Fill the basin halfway with very warm water, 1 cup of AC vinegar, then your FHG Dreadlock Detox mix or 10-15 drops of Rosemary oil. then add 1/4 box of Baking Soda. mix with your hand.

Soak & Squeeze:

Now get comfy & have your extra towels & hand mirror nearby. Lie back & dunk your dreadlocks in the basin. Squeeze your locks to soak up the detox solution. Soak in the warm water, periodically squeezing & moving your hair to work the solution in & out of your locks. There will be a noticeable change in color of the water as the detox does its job, pulling out residue & buildup. Use the hand mirror to see what you're doing. Wash accent pieces gently. Soak for 20-30 mins.

Shower, Wash & Rinse:

When you've completed your soak, slightly lean up and squeeze out your locks into the basin. grab your towel, wrap your wet hair & hop in the shower. Using your Residue Free Shampoo, Lather your scalp and dreads, squeezing the locks like sponges working the shampoo suds into the dread body. When lathering is complete, Rinse & squeeze until the water runs clear. Repeat if needed.

Dry:

Do NOT go to bed with wet hair! Towel dry with a microfiber towel. Leave hair down & go in the sunshine to dry easily. Blow dry when necessary. Dreadlocks need to be throughly dried.

Nourish with hair oil or hair mask periodically, mid shaft to ends only. Important Notes: detox no more than 2-4 times per year. Hard water not suggested, use gallons of spring water instead. Set up detox area where you can easily empty your Hair Wash Basin after you are finished.
